The warrior was ok, but the thief and sorceress felt somehow inappropriate when facing giants, valkyries, norse gods and the like. And mainly, the whole viking-ragnarok-is-coming-setting didn´t really fit the easygoing old QFG style, to my mind. And I hated the cold-and-hungry mechanism - I didn´t like feeling forced to cross lots of empty screens just to return to town and get some warmth. On the other hand, I hated the HQ combat with a vengeance - having to learn the correct counter-defenses for each move of every monster you faced was no fun for me at all. I prefer Quest for Infamy to Heroine´s Quest: I admit that the combat in QfI gets too easy once you can buy the chain mail armor and figure out the blocking allows you to heal with no risk of taking damage anymore.

Production values overall seem a bit more professional than Heroine's Quest.Īnyway, if you enjoyed Heroine's Quest I think it's likely you'll enjoy QFI too, just be prepared for an experience which is a little rough around the edges. Better music, better graphics, a bigger world to explore, better voice acting. Especially better main character who actually has a distinct personality. You can mix and match more, while QFI is more strict. Less puzzles which require you to do things in a specific order. Both games suffer from this, but Heroine's Quest has less bugs than QFI. Stats matter more, combat is better, and the element of coldness works well. QFI feels a bit forced for the first few days of ingame time.
